What is Colorado SB25-003?
Colorado SB25-003, also called SB3, establishes requirements for acquiring certain specified semiautomatic firearms. The process includes obtaining an eligibility card and completing the required firearm safety course before completing a qualifying purchase or transfer through a licensed dealer.
What is the difference between the 4-hour and 12-hour courses?
The 4-Hour Basic Course is for students whose qualifying Hunter Education history is verified through Colorado Parks and Wildlife. Students without qualifying Hunter Education generally need the complete 12-Hour Extended Course.
How do I get 25% off through a partner gun store?

Does my Colorado concealed handgun permit exempt me from the training requirement?
No. A Colorado concealed handgun permit by itself does not replace the SB25-003 eligibility-card and firearm-safety training requirements. The 12-Hour Extended Course can include the classroom portion needed for a Colorado CHP; the required live-fire qualification is completed separately.
Does the eligibility card allow me to purchase an SSF?
Not by itself. The eligibility card allows you to enroll in the required firearm safety course. You must complete the required training before completing the qualifying purchase or transfer through a licensed Colorado firearm dealer.
How do I know which course I need?
Your Hunter Education record generally determines whether you qualify for the 4-hour course or need the full 12-hour course. Review the complete process before registering if you are unsure which option applies to you.
