Do I qualify for the 4-hour course?

The 4-hour basic course is for students with qualifying Hunter Education verified through CPW. You also need your firearm safety course eligibility card before attending. Without qualifying Hunter Education, choose the 12-hour extended course.

Do I need to attend Part 2?

No. Students taking the 4-hour basic course only attend Part 1 from 5–9 PM and complete their exam before dismissal. Part 2 is for students completing the full 12-hour course.

What do I need to bring to class?

Have your government-issued photo ID and course eligibility card ready. Review your booking confirmation for the location and any additional class instructions.

What happens after I complete the class?

After you successfully complete the course and exam, your instructor reports your completion through the state’s Firearm Safety System. You can then proceed through the required purchase or transfer process with a licensed Colorado firearm dealer.
