WHY WE DISCUSS AOR IN CLASS

We spend a lot of time teaching people how to safely and responsibly own, carry, and use firearms.

But there's another question worth considering:

What happens after a self-defense incident?

AOR members are also clients of the Attorneys For Freedom Law Firm. Following a qualifying self-defense incident, members have access to legal representation from attorneys whose practice is dedicated to self-defense cases.

AOR is a self-defense protection program backed by Attorneys For Freedom Law Firm rather than typical or traditional insurance.

Coverage decisions are determined by Attorneys For Freedom attorneys—not insurance adjusters.

When you call the AOR 24/7/365 emergency hotline, you are immediately connected to an Attorneys For Freedom attorney.

Attorney-client privilege starts with that first call.

According to AOR, following a self-defense incident, clients receive immediate attorney-client privilege and confidentiality from the first call, along with 24/7/365 access to an AFF trial attorney.

WHAT ABOUT ALL THE EXCLUSIONS?

This is another area where AOR distinguishes its program.

According to AOR's affiliate materials, it does not have the extensive typical exclusions involving things such as criminal acts, use of an illegal weapon, prohibited-possessor status, an invalid or expired CCW permit, gun-free zones, domestic violence, negligent or accidental discharge during the self-defense incident, or impaired judgment from drugs or alcohol.

That does NOT mean every incident is automatically represented.

There are specific criteria that must be satisfied.

WHEN DOES AOR REPRESENT A MEMBER?

AOR requires all three of the following:

1. You are charged—or reasonably concerned about being charged—with a felony or misdemeanor.

2. You can reasonably and in good faith assert that you acted in self-defense or defense of others.

3. The charges arise from conduct that occurred entirely after you became an Attorneys On Retainer member.

All three criteria must be met to receive representation and the legal benefits of the AOR program. Coverage is available to members in all 50 states and Washington, D.C.

In other words: sign up before you need it.

Membership isn't something you purchase after an incident and then expect AOR to handle an event that already occurred.
